Q

Why do you think the burden of proof is different for civil and criminal cases?

A

criminal cases are generally considered more serious, and in some instances people could go to jail for life or receive the death penalty so the jury should have no doubt (beyond a reasonable doubt) that the person is guilty. In civil cases they just have to have a preponderance of evidence, or prove that something most likely happened.
