Interest Groups
Organization that tries to affect or change public policy
Public Opinion
View of General Public in relationship to politics.
Social Movements
Average people get together and work outside of the system and they use disruptive tactics
Political Participation
The general level of participation in a society is the extent to which the people as a whole are active in politics
Voter turnout in the U.S. vs in other democratic countries
Lack of stability in other countries; U.S. has a winner take all system
Multiparty System
systems with 4 or more political parties; proportional represenatation
Two Plus Party System
Exists in U.K. and Canada; like U.S. exple people in office don’t make it so restrictive for other parties
Third Parties
Encourage civil engagement, Put issues on the national political agenda, Protest vote.
Proportional Representation
An electoral system in which parties gain seats in proportion to the number of votes cast for them.
Winner Take All System
Whoever has most votes wins all delegates
