A

government is a mechanism for addressing issues that matter to individual citizens and pursuing individual goals (AKA the government is like a marketplace)
- Focusing on individual needs and private goals RATHER than the best interests of everyone in the community
- Individuals are motivated to engage in politics ONLY IF they have a personal interest
- Citizens are more tolerant of corruption

Traditionalistic Political Culture

A

government is necessary to maintaining the existing social order (status quo)
- New public policies will be advanced only if they reinforce the beliefs and interests of those in power
- Political participation is seen as a privilege reserved for only those who meet the qualifications
- Voter participation is generally lower and there are more barriers to participation
