What do political cartoons deal with
Deal with issues currently in the news and are visual editorials
What does Political mean?
“Political” means that it’s concerned with public affairs.
What is a cartoon?
“Cartoon” means a sketch that interests by portraying people, things events in an exaggerated way
Caricature
Exaggerates one or more features of a person or thing and makes then easily recognizable
Symbol
Represents something else; often a material that represents something abstract
Captions
Cartoonists sometimes use words to help the viewer
Stereotypes
Works by taking a real or imagined trait of an individual to be true of the group to which the individual belongs
Bias
Cartoons can display a number of biases such as political, religious, racial, economic or gender biases
Satire
Uses humor to lower something in the readers estimation
Context
The set of circumstances or facts that surround a particular event
Body language
Form of non verbal communication which consists of body posture, gestures, facial expressions and eye movements
Facial expression
One or more motions of the muscles of the fsce; non verbal communication
