Drugs and Alcohol Conditions

• The Australian Defence Force Drug and Alcohol Policy enforce a zero-tolerance on drug use and a BAC limit on alcohol consumption. Under the zero-tolerance drug policy, the use of prohibited substances is a severe breach of discipline.

Unrestricted Service

• must be able and willing to be moved or deployed across Australia and overseas at any time. Along with that you will also be required to work long hours, shift work, irregular hours, or a combination of these. Even when doing this you will not be entitled to penalty rates or overtime.

DFDA/ Military Service

• The Defence Force Disciplinary Act is the Defence Force’s own legal system with its own discipline system, courts and punishments that includes military law. This is done to ensure maintenance and enforcement of service discipline. The military discipline system contains three levels. Discipline Officer Scheme It is then followed by Summary Authorities which is mid-level. The last and most serious is Defence Force Magistrate and Courts Martial proceedings

• This includes the possibility of deploying to, or near, war zones and dangerous operational environments. You ADF will be called upon to engage in direct action against an enemy force. Along with this you may be required to deploy to unstable areas which could result in the needed use of offensive and/or defensive action to protect themselves and others

• The difference defence force branches have strict rules regarding body embellishments. Body embellishments include tattoos, branding, piercing, earlobe stretching, bead implantation and any other form of body modification.

Performance Appraisal System

The ADF uses performance management as the process to monitor and reward good performance, and, where necessary identify and resolve performance issues. Performance appraisal reports are used for a range of career management purposes such as, promotions and postings, and provide a permanent record of a member’s achievements throughout their career.
