Describe Combat systems operator

A
  • Weapons and Sensors Operator is an integral part of the Navy as it acts as the eyes and hears for ship. Being located in the ship’s Operation Room you will use sophisticated advanced combat data systems, radar, and sensors to gather information on any potential threats. Using this information, you will then give briefings to command to advise what the best course of action is. Along with this you will also participate in boarding parties, search and rescues and operate small arms.

Describe mine warfare operator

A
  • The duty of a Mine Warfare Operator is to defend Australia’s shipping routes and trade interests with the use of sophisticated sensor and technology. This will be carried out aboard the Navy’s Mine Hunter Coastal ships. Techniques used include manhunting and minesweeping to protect and if need be, disarm minefields.
  • You will also gain skills in the use of small arm weapon systems and aspects of seamanship, including small boat handling and operations, anchor and rope work, berthing, towing and helmsmanship. Participation in border and force protection if required

A
  • In a combat or security role you’ll be part of Australia’s first line of defence, learning to make the right decisions under the toughest circumstances. You will be trained to protect national interests, personnel, and assets, and help out with peacekeeping, humanitarian assistance and disaster-relief operations.
