Compressions
1 Rescuer Ad/Ch/Inf: 30:2 (ea set no longer than 18 sec) 2 Rescuer Adult - 30:2 Two Rescuer Child/Infant - 15:2 Limit interruptions in chest compressions to < 10 sec
Ventilations during CPR w/o advanced airway (30:2 or 15:2)
Pause compressions for 5-10 sec to deliver 2 breaths (each should take 1 second and create visible chest rise)
Ventilations during CPR w/ advanced airway (all ages)
Provide continuous chest compressions in 2 minute cycles and deliver one breath every 6-8 sec (= 8-10/min). Do not pause compressions to deliver breaths.
Rescue breathing: (pts w/ pulses)
Adult: 1 breath/5-6 sec (10-12 breaths/min) Child/Infant: 1 breath/3-5 sec (12-20 breaths/min
AED: AEDs are programmed to analyze, charge if VF or VT and recommend 1 shock
Immed resume CPR after defib, beg with compressions; the AED will reanalyze after 2 min;
Compression motto
fast and hard; let chest come to full recoil after each compressions to allow heart to fill with blood
Choking: conscious
abdominal thrusts for adult or child 5 back blows/5 chest thrusts for infant
Choking: unconscious
All ages: start CPR; chk mouth for object before breaths
