the narrator seems to be privileged and to know everything about the characters’ thoughts and feelings

A
- we enter a character’s mind - often makes for more dramatic narration since we follow his secret thoughts and can identify with him/her - gives us a restricted view of the other characters and the discourse can be biased or unreliable

internal focalization
A
- the events are seen from inside the story, most of the t time through the subjective angle of vision of one of the characters (the focalizer) - the interior monologue is one form of internal focalization

the events are seen from the point of view of someone who is exterior to the story

- a sort of internal focalization - the point of view shifts from one character to another in the course of the narrative
