Radial aspect of the midpoint of the 1st metacarpal bone (thumb) on the junction of the red and white skin
ST 10 Location
On the neck, at the anterior border of the SCM - midway between ST 9 and ST 11
- To identify the anterior border of the muscle ask the patient to turn their head away from the side to be needled whilst you apply resistence at the chin
ST 2 Location
With the eyes looking directly forwards, this point is located 1 cun directly blow the pupil in the depression at the infraorbital foramen
ST 7 Location
At the lower border of the zygomatic arch, in the depression anterior to the condyloid process of the mandible
- Point is needled with mouth closed, it is helpful to ask the patient to open the mouth to better locate the condyloid process - if it rests on the condyloid process when the mouth is open it will fall into the point when the mouth is closed
LU 5 Location
Transverse cubital crease, radial side of tendon of m biceps brachii
Locate with elbow slightly bend
LI 15 Location
Antero-inferior to the acromium, on the upper border of the deltoid muscle. When the arm is in full abduction, the point is in the depression appearing at the anterior border of the acromioclavicular joint
LI 14 Location
On the lateral side of the upper arm on the line joining LI 11, LI 15
7 cun above LI 11 - At the insertion of deltoid (~ 3/5s of distance)
Easier to locate if upper arm muscles are tensed
ST 32 Location
On the line connecting the ASIS and lateral border of the patella,
6 cun above (18/3) the laterosuperior border of the patella
ST 44 Location
.5 cun Proximal to the web margin between the second and third toes, in the depression distal and lateral to the second metatarsodigital joint
