Rhyme Scheme
Pattern of a poem’s rhyme. In analyzing a poem, the reader marks the rhyme capital letters; each identical letter is a rhyme.

Heroic Couplet
Has AABBCCDD rhyme structure but decides to up the game by ALSO USING IMABIC PENTAMETER (AHHHH) try to emulate epics

14 lines of iambic pentameter and a specific rhyme scheme. Serious, usually discursive poem that deals with a unified idea in very little space You will probably see at least one on the test
Blank Verse
unrhymed iambic pentameter Often used by Renaissance playwrights [Shakespeare] but goes up to Robert Frost
Sprung Rhythm
A variety of set meters and a complex rhyme scheme. Fun fact: Gerard Manley Hopkins developed it in 19th century Uneven
Free Verse
no regular rhyme schemes or meter
Ode
An ode praises something still in existence
