PNS Flashcards
1
Q
The somatic system
A
-voluntary control
-carries information from sensory receptors to skeletal muscles
2
Q
The autonomic system
A
- involuntary control
-maintains homeostasis (control in breathing, heart rate )
3
Q
Sympathetic response
A
->fight/fight response
-acts in stressful situations
-blood pressure increases and heart beats faster to prepare the body
4
Q
what happens in the sympathetic response with neurotransmitters?
A
Acetylcholine and norepinephrine are released to excite muscles. This causes blood pressure to increase and faster heart beat
5
Q
Parasympathetic response
A
->rest and digest
-acts when the body is calm and at peace
-slows heart right, reduces blood pressure
-promotes digestion
6
Q
what happens in the parasympathetic response with neurotransmitters?
A
associated with acetylcholine
