routine bloods - FBC, CRP, U+E, LFT initial sample saved for serology for atypicals blood + sputum for culture CXR + ECG ABG if sats < 95

oxygen unless retainer
IV fluids
abx - IV if severe, oral if mild
usually amoxi or cephalosporin to cover strep pneumonia
+ combined with a macrolide to cover atypical
