Pneumatics Flashcards
1
Q
The bleed air system receives air from what three main sources?
A
- Engines
- APU
- Ground pneumatic sources
2
Q
What components and systems use bleed air?
A
- Air driven hydraulic pumps
- Wing and engine anti-ice
- Cargo heating
- Engine and APU starting
- Air conditioning and pressurization
- Potable water pressurization
- Hydraulic reservoir pressurization
- Trim air
- TAT probe ventilation
3
Q
What are the two sections engine bleed air is supplied from?
A
- Low stage
- High stage
4
Q
When does the aircraft use low stage air?
A
Primarily during high thrust settings, such as takeoff, climb, cruise
5
Q
When does the aircraft use high stage air?
A
During descents to supplement low stage air during low thrust settings
6
Q
What controls the engine bleed air system?
A
Air Supply and Cabin Pressure Controller (ASCPC)
7
Q
What valve is controlled by ASCPC?
A
High pressure valve
8
Q
What is the purpose of the ASCPC?
A
- Modulates the Pressure Regulating and Shutoff Valve (PRSOV) to limit bleed air temperature in the ducts
- controls the position of the bleed isolation valves
9
Q
When does the APU bleed air valve close?
A
Automatically when an engine is supplying bleed air
