Pneumatics Flashcards
Name the methods of operation (pneumatics)
Plunger
Roller Trip
Push Button
Lever
Name the different Flow Lines and connections
Working Line, Return and Feed Line
Pipe line Junction
Pipeline not connected
What is pneumatics used for?
Brakes on a bus
Bus doors
Stamping
Clamps
What does the 3/2 in a 3/2 valve stand for?
3 port
2 position
Name the 3 ports on a 3/2 Valve.
Port 1 is main air connection
Port 2 connects to other components
Port 3 is the exhaust
What is used to make a 3/2 valve return to it’s original state automatically?
Spring
What does SAC stand for?
Single Acting Cylinder
How does a SAC work.
Compressed air travels into cylinder pushing the piston.
This tightens the spring and makes the piston rod outstroke
When air flow is deactivate the spring pushes the piston away forcing the air out and making the piston rod in stroke.
What is used to control the speed of the flowing air?
Unidirectional Flow Restrictor
How does a Unidirectional flow restrictor work?
Ball blocks funnel
Tighten screw to slow down the air
Untighten screw to make air flow quicker
When air go opposite way unplugs funnel and leaves quickly
How many connections does a shuttle valve have?
3
How many input connections does a shuttle valve have?
2
How many output connections does a shuttle valve have?
1
What is the purpose of a shuttle valve?
To operate a mechanism from 2 different positions.
When air blows from left what side is blocked?
Right
