Pneumatic Faults Flashcards
How many bogies can be isolated on a HCMT before it is removed from service?
2
3 or more / train removed
What does HCMT do with 2 bogies isolated and brake manager active
Extra braking effort across across all remaining bogies
Similar to normal EP braking
What does HCMT do with 2 bogies isolated and brake manager inactive
Each car brakes independently with no additional effort to compensate
Stopping within 10% of normal
What happens when brake disc temperature is too high?
TMS presents alert
Hint text will instruct driver to operate at low speed
If driver exceeds limit by 3kmh full service brake will apply
What do you do when you get sticking/dragging brakes?
Navigate to Main Status Screen page 2
MC to COAST
MC to MAX Brake
Mc to COAST
Repeat fanning of brake
Observe BC decrease below 20
What happens if defective brake is on a TC
Only one bogie can be isolated
If both train is disabled
If air suspension isolated on one bogie what do you have to do?
Isolate both
What happens with speed when air suspension isolated?
Train puts 40kmh speed restriction on train
Full service brake if exceed 3kmh
Where are air suspension ICs located?
B side, No. 2 End
How do you isolate MR
Turn MR through ICs at either end of affected car
… and MR End cock at No. 1 end of Tc
If you isolate MR what is the effect?
Removes service, emergency and park brake function in affected car
Affects pantos, sanders, tread scrubbers, trips, air bags
If you observe a large discrepancy between MR on leading and trailing cars on status screen what does it indicate?
Leak in MR towards the end with the lower value
If TMS detects MR pressure is not being maintained what will it do?
Command air compressors to operate simultaneously
What happens if MR failure is on a Tc Car?
Car loses all brakes
Train disabled
What equipment is lost if MR fault on Tc Car? (7)
Trip
Emergency Brakes
Friction Brakes
Holding Brakes
Horn
Air suspension
Driver and OJT seats
Sanders
