Action when no fire is present ?
A thorough search of building. If no fire is found an endeavour is made to put the system back in working order.
Sprinklers gongs are not to be shut down by brigade.
The course of the operation of the gong is to be investigated and any defect to be found is to be remedied if possible.
What should the IC do on arrival at a fire in a building with sprinklers or automatic drenches.
IC should send a Firefighter to main control valve. Check it’s in open position.
Who can order closure of Main control valve?

What are your actions once the fire is located?
When the fire is Located the valve controlling the gong should be located and shut down. If a building is a protected by more then one installation care is to be taken to ensure that the only correct valve or valves are shut down.
When do you close the main stop valve?
As soon as he / she is satisfied that the operated sprinklers or drenches can be dispensed with, the IC of the fire should order the valve controlling the installation affected to be closed, the booster pump switched off and the drain valve opened.
Who would replace the sprinkler heads?
This work would be done by a representative of the building. The IC is to Ensure, if possible that the operated sprinkler heads are replaced and the installations recharged and the sprinkler gong control valve or valves are opened.
What do you include in the stop message?
Details of the number of sprinkler heads actuated are to be included in the stop for every fire that occurs in a building with sprinklers.
