Q

In the event Brigade appliances have to transverse soft or uneven ground what are crew members to do?

A

Crew act as lookouts and continually observe the appliance wheels for signs of sinking, and to ensure that the most utmost care is taken to ensure that it does not become damaged, bogged down or stranded.

If the slightest doubt exists the lookouts will signal the driver to halt

Should the vehicle became bogged down. The vehicle should return to the highway by the same route that it left even if it means reversing the whole route.

Personnel undertaking the role of lookouts to take extreme caution in respect of their proximity to the appliance and rem up ain a safe distance in the event that they slip or stumble.
