Plot?
Several basic events that form a story.
Narrative?
A story
Conflict?
A disagreement or argument
Exposition?
At the beginning of the story: background info, characters, setting, and situation
Rising Action?
Conflict becomes more clear after a significant event, main character experiences complications.
Climax?
The point of where suspense, emotions and tensions peak. A critical turning point in the story.
Comedy?
The main characters situation improves.
Falling Action?
details the effects of what happens at the climax and the conflict comes to a resolution.
Suspense?
A feeling of excited or anxious uncertainty about what may happen.
Tragedy?
The situation in the story worsens.
Denouement?
means “untying the knot”, readers learn on how the conflict is resolved.
Resolution?
finding an answer or solution to a conflict.
in media res?
“In the middle of the action”
flashbacks?
explains what happened prior to the story’s beginning.
foreshadowing?
hinting at events to come
