Play is educational as well for entertainment purposes. Children should be doing children things (playing and socially). However, children should not play all the time; it should be structured. He also remarks that u can observe the child’s character through play

How do these two definitions differ in the boundaries of the adult world and the child world?
Greek:
Paizo- to play
He paignia- the game
To paignion- a plaything
He paidia- childrens activity
All of these words are associated with children as children play. This further divides the child from the adult in the greek world
Rome:
Ludus=game (where the body or mind is exercised)
Ludicrum=toy
Ludre=to play
Ludimagster=teahcer
Ludus also means gladiatorial school or school
Ludi=means games and also great festivals
Ancient Romans vocabulary did not only associate play with children but also the adult world. Children’s world may have been intergrated with the adult world. Maybe the sense of play was related to when one was not engaged in work. For school, it was considereda a luxury and it took them away from work (which children would be doing of they were not at school).
When contrasting the two, the ancient Greece world associates play with only children while the Romans associated play with leisure and luxury which was available to both kids and adults.

Pets teach responsibility, companionship and lost to children.
How is play a part in the childhood experience?
Play was used for socialization for either communicating and developing skills or establishing social hierarchies (slave games). Moreover,Play was used to educate and was crucial to the ancient childhood learning experience . Lastly, play was used for fun despite the hard times in the ancient world.
