  • pieces (no nucleus) shed off and last 10 days in blood

A

Structure
1. Membrane
phospholipids (coagulation process to form fibrin clot)
2. Granules (assist aggregation, adhesion, coagulant activity of platelets)

Function:
form platelet plug
provide phospohlipid surface for coagulation cascade (fibrin clot formation)

Platelet count, mean platelet volumue
Bleeding time

- epi long - drug effect on platelet clotting
- both long - platelet dysfunction
