PlasmaBlade Flashcards
What is Plasma?
4th state of matter - a high temperature electrically conductive gas
How is Plasma created?
Plasma is created when RF energy heats the water in the cells of tissue with enough intensity/focus to create a plasma burst (emit light)
How is PB different?
Pulsed Plasma + TPS technology - difference is how plasma created is concentrated. Low duty cycle and pulsed waveform are dispensed from a highly insulated electrode for precision dissection and precision coagulation - minimizing the thermal damage zone.
What is TPS?
Thermal Protection Shield - glass coating that insulates 99.5% of the electrode leaving a 12.5 micron edge exposed. Focuses energy and allows it to reach plasma field faster than traditional methods.
What is length of PB 3.0s shaft?
5 cm to 15.5 cm
What are differences between Pulsar I and Pulsar II generators?
Pulsar I operates at 4 MHz at Cut 1 - 5 and at 460 KHz for all other set points. Pulsar II operates at 1 MHz for all set points. Rear vs. front volume control. No touch screen vs. touch screen. No user presets on P1.
What are set up steps for Pulsar?
Turn Pulsar Generator on. Plug in patient return pad. Return indicator turns orange. Plug in handpiece. Initialize patient return sensing system by depressing Cut or Coag button - indicator will go from orange to green. Adjust settings to surgeon preference. Commence surgery.
What are recommended start settings for Breast/Plastics and EP?
Cut 5 Coag 6
What are the compatible grounding pads?
Valley Lab, Conmed, and Megadyne
What are non-compatible grounding pads?
Gyrus, Ellman, Erbe
