Plasma Membrane Flashcards
Plasma membrane
the flexible boundary of a cell that separates a cell
from its surroundings.
What does the plasma membrane do?
The plasma membrane regulates what enters and leaves the cell and provides protection and support. This is called selective permeability.
Selective Permeability
Some molecules are allowed to pass through the plasma membrane at any time - other molecules are only allowed at certain times or places - some are never allowed

Phospholipid layer
double-layered sheet that makes up most of plasma membranes.
Phospholipid
It is made up of glycerol, two fatty acids, and a phosphate group.
:)
Plasma membranes contain?
Plasma membranes contain protein molecules that are embedded in the phospholipid bilayer. Carbohydrate molecules are attached to many of the proteins.
The organization of these embedded and attached is called?
Fluid mosaic model.
