Who were the four initial members of the band and explain their relationship
The four initial members were christy Moore (vocals, guitar), Andy Irvine (vocals, mandolin), Dónal Lunny (guitars, bozouki), Liam Ó Flynn (uillean pipes, tin whistle). Before the Band Was formed the members were all well aware of each other’s work. Dónal and Christy had been friends since their school days.
How did the band come together
The band came together when Christy was recording his second solo album. They named the a planxty. The band related their first album called Planxty in 1972 and it reached number seven in Irish charts!
Explain the bands breakups and the results of the breakups
The band broke up twice during their career . After the first break up they kept seeing each other in the studio and socially anyways so they reunited along the musician Matt Molloy. Because of the break ups there were several additional members to the band including; Matt molloy, Bill Whealan, and Paul Brady

instruments used in the band were: Uilleann pipes,the mandolin, flute, guitar, tin whistle, harmonica.
