Explain where jazz originated from
Jazz originated at the beginning of the 20th Century in the African-American communities of the Southern United States, most importantly in New Orleans. Grew from styles of music such as blues, ragtime and afro-cuban music.

A typical jazz bebop group consists of drums, piano or guitar, upright bass and brass and woodwind instruments such as trumpet, clarinet and saxophone.
