Plant Transport System Flashcards
State the function of the food-carrying tubes
The food carrying tubes transports food or sugars ( used when context is based on sweetness) made by the leaves to all parts of the plant
State the function of the water - carrying tubes
The water carrying tubes transports water from the roots to other parts of the plant
Do roots absorb dyes?
No. Roots only absorb water and mineral salts. Stems take in dyes
What is stomata?
Stomata is an opening found mainly on the underside of leaves the but can also be found on the top side of the leaves.
During respiration, what enters and exits the leaf?
During respiration, oxygen enters the leaf and carbon dioxide exits the leaf.
During photosynthesis, what enters and exits the leaf?
During photosynthesis, carbon dioxide enters the leaf and oxygen exits the leaf.
What are the tiny openings on the stomata for?
The tiny openings on the leaves allow the plant to carry out gaseous exchange for respiration and photosynthesis.
