Cells Flashcards
What is cells?
Cells is the smallest building block of all living things
What are the 2 types of cells?
Plant cell & animal cell
What does an animal cell have?
Nucleus, cell membrane & cytoplasm.
What does a plant cell have?
Nucleus, cell wall, cell membrane, cytoplasm & chloroplast.
Is chloroplast in all plant calls? Explain why.
No. Chloroplast is only found in plant cells that trap light for photosynthesis. E.g. Leaf cell, green stem cell
What is the function of the cell wall?
The cell wall supports and gives the cell it’s shape.
What is the function of cell membrane?
The cell membrane controls the movement of substances into & out of the cell.
What is the function of the nucleus?
The nucleons controls all cell activity & also contain genetic information.
What is the function of the cytoplasm?
The ay to plasm is a jelly-like substance within the cell where cell activities take place.
What is the function of the chloroplast?
The chloroplast is a structure that contains chlorophyll which light trap for photosynthesis (only in plant cells)
