Plant Cells Flashcards
Cell wall
Gives the cell more strength and allows molecules to diffuse in and out of the cell
Cell membrane
Controls the amount of substances exchanged
Nucleus
Controls the cells function
Nucleolus
Where rna and proteins are stored in preparation for protein synthesis
Cytoplasm
Encases the cells organelles
Ribosomes
Make proteins through protein synthesis which are needed for the cells specific functions
Endoplasmic reticulum
Rough:
Ribosomes bound to its surface which synthesise proteins, which are then transported through cisternae and vesicles to the Golgi apparatus.
Smooth:
A network of cisternae membrane sacs which synthesise lipids and carbohydrates
Golgi apparatus
Made up of custernae sacs which modifies the proteins rest for transport out of the cell and around the body
Large food vacuole
Brake down the unwanted cells in the cell
Tonoplast
Encases the vacuole and regulates its acidity by bringing in protons
Chloroplasts
Absorb sunlight for the chlorophyll to synthesise
Amyloplast
Leucoplasts which store starch that’s been made through photosynthesis
Mitochondria
Where chemical reactions take place which created energy needed for respiration
