Animal Cells Flashcards
Cell membrane
Controls what’s absorbed in and diffused out of the cell
Cilia
On the cell surface membrane of cells, increases surface area so the rate of diffusion is high
Cytoplasm
Submerged the cells organelles and is where chemical reactions take place
Nucleus
Controls the cells function and is made of nucleoplasm
Nucleolus
The centre of the nucleus which is made up of proteins and rna, it sends the dna to the ribosome for protein synthesis
Mitrochondria
Where chemical reactions take place which provide energy for cellular respiration
Ribosomes
Make proteins through protein synthesis which are needed for the cell to function
Endoplasmuc reticulum
Rough:
Ribosomes bound to its surface which synthesise proteins, which are then transported through cisternae and vesicles to the Golgi apparatus.
Smooth:
A network of cisternae membrane sacs which synthesise lipids and carbohydrates
Golgi apparatus
Modified the synthesised proteins for packaging, secretion and exchange of materials through its cisterns sacs
Lysosomes
Used in cell digestion and waste removal as they contain a digestive enzyme
Microtubules
Are fibrous and hollow rods which help to maintain the cells structure as well as providing a route for the cells organelle to travel across the cytoplasm
Microfilaments
Provide support to the cells structure
Centrosome (the cells two Centrioles)
Microtubial rings which organise the cells micro tubes, support the cells structure and also pull the cells chromatids apart during cell division
