Plant Cell Parts Flashcards
Chloroplast
a type of pigmented plastid, converts light into chemical energy
Granum
inside chloroplasts, made of stacks of thylakoids, contain the green pigment chlorophyll
Ribosomes
in prokaryotes and eukaryotes, contains proteins and rna, lines up amino acids to make proteins, usually found on ER
Rough endoplasmic reticulum
transports compounds around the cell and maintain the cell’s shape, studded with ribosomes and proteins made by ribosomes
Smooth endoplasmic reticulum
transports compounds around the cell’s shape, processes fats and breaks down toxic substances in liver cells
Central vacuole
stores waters, salts, sugars, and proteins, maintains turbot pressure, the water inside the central vacuole that keeps the cell rigid
Leucoplast
a type of colorless plastid, stores starches, lipids, and proteins
a type of colorless plastid, stores starches, lipids, and proteins
provides strength and rigidity to the cell, contains pores so that materials can pass through it
