Plant and animal cells Flashcards
5 parts of a cell that both plants and animals have:
Nucleus Cell Membrane Cytoplasm Mitochondria Ribosomes
3 things that plant cells have but animal cells dont:
Choloroplast
Cell Wall
Vacoule
Palisade leaf cells and how they are adapted for photosynthesis
Lots of chloroplasts at top = close to light
Tall = Big surface area, absorbs Co2
Thin = Pack lots of cells at op of leaf
Factors that affect the rate of photosynthesis
Sunlight
Co2
Temperature
What happens to enzymes if the temperature gets too high?
If temperature gets too high, enzymes become damaged/denatured
Ideal farming conditions:
Green house : Traps suns heat Artificial light = more photosynthesis Paraffin heater = increases Co2 Free from pests and disease Fertilisers= improves soil (healthy growth)
What happens at a Mesophyll tissue? (plants)
Photosynthesis occurs
What happens at a xylem/phloem tissue? (plants)
Transportation of water, mineral ions and sucrose
What does a Epidermal tissue do? (Plants)
Covers whole plant
Give an example of a plant organ and its job:
Chloroplast contains Chorophyll = absorbs sunlight and converts Co2 and Water to Glucose and Oxygen
Equation for photosynthesis…
Co2 + H2O (sunlight)= Glucose + O2
Where is genetic material found in bacteria cells?
Cytoplasm
Where is genetic information in Animal cells found?
Nucleus
