Q

What does the sun give the earth?

A

It gives the earth heat and light energy that travels to the earth and allows animals and plants to live.

23
Q

How hot is the center of the sun?

A

1.3 million degrees Celsius

24
Q

What is the imaginary pole through the earth called?

A

It is called the axis.

25
Q

What does the earth do on its axis ?

A

It spins on its axis

26
Q

Why does the sun seem to rise and set?

A

Because the sun spins on its axis different parts of the earth face the sun at different times.

27
Q

Name the two ways the earth moves.

A

It rotates or spins on its axis

It orbits or revolves around the sun.

28
Q

The explain the earths orbit

A

As the earth spins on its axis it also revolves around the sun on a special path called an orbit.

29
Q

How long does it take for the earth to orbit the sun?

A

364 1/4 days to orbit sun

1 earth year

30
Q

The earth is divided into two halves by an imaginary line called the equator. The northern hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere. What happens because the earth is tilted on its axis?

A

Because the earth is tilted on its axis, one hemisphere is tilted towards the sun and the other one is tilted away from the sun. This means that some times of the year are warmer and some are colder. This is why we have seasons.
