copyright infringement
the use of a work that is fixed in a tangible medium without the permission of the copyright owner or beyond allowable exemptions to the law, such as fair use
plagiarism is an ethical offense:
plagiarism may be disciplined with a failing grade, expulsion from a university, loss of employment, and may damage a professional reputation. it looks bad
