  • Previous placenta abruption
  • Fetal male sex
  • Trauma / violence
  • Age ( less than 25, above 30 )
  • Chorioamnionitis
  • Smoking
  • Cocaine
  • Alcohol

What are the types of placenta abruption ?

A
  • Concealed —> blood behind placenta and doesn’t touch the cervix
  • Revealed or ouvert —> blood goes out through cervix

A
  • Hypertension
  • Hypotension
  • Maternal blunt trauma
  • Tachycardia

Management?

A
  • Adequate blood transfusion
  • Adequate analgesia for pain relief
  • Monitoring of mother condition
  • Assessment of fetal condition
  • If the patient has hypotension, tachycardia, repetitive late DIC, tachycardia in fetus or mother, YOU GOT GET THE BABY OUT
