placement notes Flashcards
Premolar bitewing
front edge of the sensor with the distal of the mandibular canine or at least the entire mandibular 1st premolar
Molar bitewing
ALWAYS line front edge of the sensor to include the distal of the mandibular second premolar
Premolar periapical
include the distal of the canine or at least entire first premolar
molar periapical
if there is a 3rd molar present in the quadrant you are working in, you must include the entire 3rd molar plus a little
molar periapical part 2
if there is not a 3rd molar present in the quadrant you are working, line up front edge of the sensor to include the distal of the second premolar in that quadrant
Molar periapical part 3
be sure to change all 3 pieces of the rinn setup if necessary when moving from one area to the other in the posterior periapical views. Failure to do so will result in a cone cut where there is no image on part of the radiograph
Central incisor view
center the central incisors on the sensor to include both central incisors in their entirety
Lateral/Canine view
include the entire lateral incisor and the canine in whatever quadrant you are working in, on the sensor
Anterior Periapical part 1
when taking maxillary periapicals place the biteblock on the bottom edge of the sensor in order to see the roots of the teeth
Anterior Periapical 2
when taking mandibular periapicals place the biteblock on the upper edge of the sensor in order to see the roots of the teeth
