In the anterior pituitary
What does TRS do when binding to receptors in the anterior pituitary?
Stimulates the release of TSH

How can you tell if the anterior pitiurtary is not working in a man and women?
In men:
lack of testosterone
In women
lack of periods
What does high levels of GHRH and low levels of SMS stimulate in the anterior pituitary?
Stimulates the release of growth hormone from the pituitary gland
What are 3 vital presentations of a tumour causes?
- pressure on local structures e.g. optic nerves
- Pressure on normal pituitary e.g. hypopituitarism
- Functioning tumour e.g. acromegaly
What can be affected if the tumour grow laterally
Vision problems as it can compress on the optic nerve

- Late night/midnight serum or salivary cortisol

Measure plasma ACTH
