Pegvisomant
GH antagonist
Uses: acromegaly
SE: HTN, periph. edema, enlarge pituitary adenoma(s), elevated liver f(x) tests
Octreotide
also: Sandostatin, Lanreotide
Somatostatin analog
–l GH secretion
Uses: acromegaly, functional pancreatic/carcinoid tumors
SE: nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain
Bromocryptine mesylate
DA agonist,
=> suppress prolactin, & GH (paradoxically); lowers glucose.
Uses: hyperprolactinemic disorders, acromegaly, DM2
SE: orthostatic hypotension/dizziness, headache, fatigue, digital vasospasm
Cabergoline
ergot deriv => suppresses prolactin
Uses: hyperprolactinemic disorders
SE: orthostatic hypotension/dizziness, headache, cardiac valve disease if prolonged use.
Somatropin, Somatrem
Recombinant human GH
Uses: failed growth (GH def, Turner’s, Prader-Willi, cachexia, chronic kidney disease)
SE: transient flushing, Ab development, injection site rxn
Sermorelin
GH Releasing Hormone Analog
Use: to Dx low plasma GH, to Tx GH def. in kids
SE: transient flushing, Ab development, injection site rxn
Mecasermin

Uses: Laron dwarfism, GH def. bc neutralizing GH Abs
SE: hypoglycemia, seizure/increased ICP, slipped femoral epiphysis
