What is Hypopituitarism?
A
Inadequate production of one or more of the hormones secreted by the pituitary gland.

What is Panhypopituitarism?
A
Deficiency of all hormones - commonly caused by surgery/radiotherapy.

Aetiology of Hypopituitarism (7).
A
- Compression of Pituitary Gland - Non-Secretory Pituitary Macroadenoma (commonest).
- Pituitary Apoplexy.
- Sheehan’s Syndrome (postpartum Pituitary Necrosis following haemorrhage).
- Hypothalamic Tumours e.g. Craniopharyngoma.
- Trauma.
- Iatrogenic Irradiation.
- Infiltrative Disease e.g. Haemochromatosis, Sarcoidosis.

Clinical Features of Low Hormones (6).
A
- Low ACTH - Tiredness, Postural Hypotension.
- Low FSH/LH - Amenorrhoea, Infertility, Loss of Libido.
- Low TSH - Cold, Constipation.
- Low GH - Short Stature.
- Prolactin - Lactation Problems.
