what is a pilot study?
A
a small-scale version of an investigation that takes place before the real investigation is conducted.

what are the aims of a pilot study?
A
to check that procedures and measuring scales work, and to reveal to the researcher if any aspect of the investigation needs to be altered

what is a single-blind procedure?
A
any information that may create expectations is not revealed to the participant until after the study.

what is a double blind procedure?
A
both the participant and the researcher conducting the study are unware of the aims of the investigation. often a third party conducts the investigation without knowing its purpose.
