What are pilot studies?
Small-scale version of an investigation that takes place before the real one is conducted.
It aims to check procedures, materials, timings etc and allow the researcher to make any changes
What do pilot studies involve?
Involves a few ppts which are all types of investigations. This saves money and time in the long run.
What is a single-blind procedure?
When details are kept from ppts
What is a double-blind procedure?
When ppts and researchers are unaware of the aim. A third party may conduct.
What is an experimental group/condition?
A group receiving something that the researcher wants to look at effects
What is a control group/condition?
A group of ppts are used to provide a baseline which allows comparison
