Pilot maneuvers Flashcards
1
Q
Steep Turns
A
- Perform clearing turns
2.Flow check
3.Airspeed Below VA 97 knots - Roll into 45 degree bank
5.Maintain altitude and airspeed (passing 30 degrees of bank, increase back pressure and add 100-200 RPM) - Begin rollout prior to 20 degrees prior to entry heading ( passing 30 degrees of bank, decrease back pressure and reduce power to entry power setting.)
- Stabilize at entry heading, altitude, and airspeed.
- Enter steep turn opposite side.
2
Q
Power-on Stall
(Simulates stall on departure)
A
- Perform clearing turns
- Flow check
- Reduce power to 1500 RPM, Carb heat on, maintain altitude (Increase back pressure)
- At 55 KIAS, simultaneously increase pitch and apply full power, carb hear off.
- Stabilize in climb at 55 KIAS
- Increase pitch to induce stall.
- RECOVERY: Decrease AOA, establish climb at 59 KIAS
- Level-off at cruise altitude and establish cruise configuration.
3
Q
Power-off Stall (Simulates stall on approach)
A
- Perform clearings turns
- Flow check
- Reduce power to 1500 RPM, carb heat on, maintain altitude (increase back pressure)
- Flaps 10 at 75 KIAS
- Flaps 20 at 70 KIAS
- Flaps down at 65 KIAS
- Stabilized in a descent at 65 KIAS
- Once stabilized, throttle idle and pitch up to induce stall.
- RECOVERY: Reduce AOA, full power, carb heat off, flaps 20 degrees.
- Accelerate to 59 KIAS, positive rate, flaps 10
- Positive rate, flaps up
- Level-off at cruise altitude and establish cruise configuration.
4
Q
Slow Flight
A
- Perform clearing turns
- Flow check
- Reduce power to 1500 RPM, carb heat on, maintain altitude (Increase back pressure)
- Flaps 10 at 75
- Flaps 20 at 70
- Flaps 30 at 65
- Approaching 50-55 KIAS, increase power to approx. 1800 RPM
- Slow to first stall indication, then maintain 5-10 knots above that speed.
- Power to maintain altitude
- Pitch to maintain airspeed.
- Use standard rate turns, approx. 15 degrees bank
- RECOVERY: Full power, carb heart off, maintain altitude, reduce flaps as airspeed increases.
- Flaps up at safe speed
- Establish cruise configuration.
