Pillars Flashcards
Pillar 1: Everything is a game
When learning make everything like a game. Don’t be afraid to lose. You must have a growth mindset. Everything is a challenge. Take every opportunity as way of getting better.
A fixed mindset will ask if it is too hard or if I am smart enough for that.
You should have a high locus of control which mean that if you get a bad grade you only blame yourself. You know that you didn’t study enough. You gonna be better next time.
With low locus of control you blame external factor as family or the test was weird or the teacher was bad.
Pillar 2: Feynman technique
The Feynman technique consist in being able to explain what you’ve learn in a very simple way with simple word.
You have to imagine that you are trying to explain it to a five years old child.
Pillar 3: the trunk based technique
Don’t follow the trend! Like a tree the trend are the leaves that will fall every winter. Instead focus on learning the base. When you can the base of everything it will be easier to learn new things. In order to program you have to understand the fundamental of computer science.
Pillar 4: Efficiency trumps grit.
To be a good learner you have to be efficient. You’ll learn better if you use the different techniques you have learnt. Sitting hours and hours trying to squeeze information in your brain will in the long run be a disaster. Instead if you try to make sense of parito principle it will work much better.
