A

atom bomb
(Piggy is the most aware about what is going on)

22
Q

‘My…’

A

Auntie
(he’s connected to society such as adults)

23
Q

Who is Piggy most closely associated with?

A

Ralph as he stuck with him from the start

24
Q

What does Piggy also represent other than innocence and civilization?

A

back ground leadership because he gives his ideas through what Ralph says because the other boys don’t take him seriously due to his appearance

25
Q

Essay plan for Piggy?

A

paragraph 1-Piggy is vulnerable and open to torment as he is an outsider

paragraph 2-Piggy is most connected to society and the most logical character whilst being a voice of reason and Ralph’s adviser-however his logic will soon be consumed by the boys’ chaos

paragraph 3-Piggy’s character has inconsistent parts and he constantly denies his and Ralph’s involvement with the murder of Simon, which isn’t like him and shows the evil taking over, he is also vulnerable again right before he dies and the innocence and civilization on the island coming to an end

26
Q

‘on account of my…’

A

asthma
(Piggy is inferior to other boys for things so basic like breathing-important we know this before his name as his vulnerability is more of his character than his name)

27
Q

‘in a…way’

A

scientific
(scientific way is the most logical way and Piggy always thinks back to society)

28
Q

‘If you don’t blow, we’ll soon be…’

A

animals anyways
(Piggy warns Ralph that if he doesn’t blow the conch to call the boys back and organise, they will soon descend into savagery and never be rescued, emphasising that they need to maintain order and authority or they will slip into primitive state of living)

29
Q

‘Didn’t you see what…’

A

we-what they did?
(short sentences emphasise what Piggy is saying, the dash shows that deep down Piggy knows that he and Ralph were part of the murder but keeps denying it to keep positive with Ralph)

30
Q

‘Is it safe? Am I safe?…’

A

Don’t leave me Ralph.
(without his glasses he’s even more vulnerable as they are from society and man-made, it also shows Piggy needs Ralph’s protection. the repetition of safe shows Piggy needs constant reassurance)

31
Q

‘exploded into…’

A

thousand white fragments
(the powerful verb ‘exploded’ represents how much damage was done to Piggy and the conch, Piggy dies at the same time the conch is broken as they both represented democracy and civilization gone-‘white’ represents the purity and innocence of Piggy gone)

32
Q

‘the body of Piggy…’

A

gone
(represents the last hopes of democracy gone)
