Preoperational Stage
(2 to 4 years old) the child is not yet able to understand abstract things without physical, concrete evidence.
Concrete Operations
( 7 to 11 years old) as they gain experience, they learn to accommodate more. The child begins to think abstractly and conceptually.
Formal Operations
(beginning ages 11 to 15) cognition reaches its final form. At this stage, the child no longer needs concrete objects to rationalize things.
