What does Belbin’s model show?
-Number of roles optimal for an effective team
-Individuals have comfortable roles
-Leader to understand strengths of individuals to develop the team
What does Margerison McCann’s model show?
-Similar to Belbin - understand preferred roles in the team
-How individuals relate to others, make decisions etc.
-Leader to understand these aspects to select the correct mix of complementary skills
What does the Myers-Briggs model show?
-Recognises how individuals perceive situations and communication preferences to influence reaction
-Team members more integrated into project so values align and performance improves
What does the Hackman model state?
5 conditions need to be implemented and maintained for the team to be effective:
-Be a real team
-Clear direction of work
-Structure must support teamworking
-Supportive organisation
-Available coaching within the team
What 2 things does the Tuckman model state?
-Project team may take time to mature into a performing team
-Leader should facilitate progression through the stages of team development
What 3 things does the Katzenbach and Smith model state?
-Better team = better performance
-Leader can support by developing the level of commitment, accountability and skills in the team
-Team members need to be clear on specific goals, right mix of skills and clear accountabilities
