Physiological And Pathological Changrs Flashcards
What’s Fenestrations??
isolated areas in which the root surface is covered only by the periosteum and gingiva,
but, the marginal bone remains intact
More circular pattern
What’s dehiscence ?
When the marginal bone participate in the defect start from Mose coronal part .
What’s internal remodeling ?
resorption and formation of bone .
What’s local and systemic factors of remodelling ?
**Local factors –
1. functional requirements on the tooth
2. age-related changes in bone cells
**Systemic factors –
1. hormonal (e.g., parathyroid hormone, calcitonin),
2. vitamin D3)
In which parts bone resorp and deposit ?
Resorbed - side of pressure
Deposits - side of tension.
In physiological migration of teeth what is resorption and deposit parts ?
Teeth tend to move medically .
Bone resorption along the mesial surfaces of the teeth
Bone deposition-on the distal surfaces
What’s is cementum ?
calcified avascular mesenchymal tissue that forms the outer covering of the anatomic root.
It provides anchorage mainly to the principal fibers of periodontal ligament.
What’s cementum types ?
- Acellular cementum/ primary cementum
- Cellular cementum/secondary cementum
In which types of cementum collages fibers are organized ?
Acellular
Which type of cementum forms after bone eruptions ?
Cellular
Acellular during tooth formation
Which type of cement seen coronally and apically ?
Coronal - acellular
Apical - cellular
Why it’s cellular ?
Contain cementocytes
Which one its deposition is rapid ?
Cellular
Where does cementum deposition is more rapid ?
Apical part of tooth
In which side cementum is thicker ?
Distal surface
What’s cement hyperplasia ?
Hypercementosis local or generalized .
What’s the etiology of local deposition and general ?
***Local , result of excessive tension fromorthodontic appliance or occlusal forces.
Trauma
***The generalized type:;
1. teeth without antagonists,
2. in teeth with chronic pulpal and periapical infections.
What’s CEJ types ?
- the cementum overlaps the enamel, (60-65 cases)
- end-to end relationship of enamel(30% cases) but joint
- cementum and enamel fail to meet.(5-10%) cement defiency
Cemental resorption may be caused by which factors ?
**local,- trauma from occlusion, orthodontic
tooth movement, pressure from erupting teeth, cysts and tumors, teeth without functional antagonist, periapical disease and periodontal disease
**systemic – calcium deficiency, hypothyroidism
**idiopathic factors.
How root Carie’s develop ?
Cementum -covered by alveolar bone and gingiva.
»_space;»> In cases of gingival recession and loss of
attachment »_space;»>cementum exposed to the oral environment.
»»bacteria penetrate -. Caries of the cementum (root caries) develops.
