Physics Density Flashcards
What is the aim?
To use appropriate apparatus to make and record the measurements needed to determine the densities of regular and irregular solid objects and liquids
What is density
A fundamental physical property that describes the mass of a substance per unit volume snd is commonly expressed in kg per cubic meter
What will you do in this practical
Investigate the densities of both regular and irregular objects. The process involves measuring the mass and volume of each sample and then calculating the density
Independent variable
Material being measured
Dependent variable
Density of material
Control variable
Temperature
Equation for density
Density (g) = mass/volume
Why is the mass of the irregular object measured before placing it in the eureka can?
When the object is placed in the water, it will get wet and influence the mass reading
