Physics Flashcards
What is the equation to work out work?
work (J) = distance (M) x Force (N)
work = height x weight
work (J) = power (W) x time (S)
What is the equation to work out weight?
weight (N) = mass (Kg) x gravitational field (N/Kg)
How do you work out energy?
How do you work out gravitational potentiol energy?
GPE (J) = mass (Kg) x gravitational field strength (N/Kg) x force
graviational field strength is always 9.8
How do you work out kinetic energy?
kinetic energy = 0.5 x mv^2
How do you work out the u value?
U= Q/At△T
U value - (w/m^2 k)
Q - energy transferred in time
A - area of surface
t - time of traansfer
△T - temperature difference
How do you work out efficency?
effiency = (useful energy/total energy input) x 100
What are the units and symbols for the following:
potentiol difference?
Resistance?
Current?
Charge?
Time?
potentiol difference (V)= volts
Resistance (R) = ohms
Current (I) = amps
Charge (Q) = couloums
Time (T) = seconds
How do you work out velocity?
velocity = distance / time
How do you work out acceleration?
acceleration = (final velocity-inital velocity) / time taken
What is the u value?
- A measurement of the rate of energy trasnfer per m^2 of area per degree temperature differnece
What does it mean if the U value is high?
- Material will transfer energy at a greater rate
What does the R value measure?
- resistance to heat flow through a given thickness of material
What is the formula for the R value?
- R (Mzk) = I (thickness of the material in meters) / λ (Thermal conductivity in W/mk)
What is the SUVAT equations?
- S = distance
- U = initial velocity
- V = final velocity
- A = acceleration
- T = time
