Physical Science Flashcards
Velocity
Velocity is speed and direction.
Chemical changes
Chemical Changes occur when a substance combines with another to form a new substance.
Chemical properties
Chemical properties are characteristics of a materiel that become evident when the materiel undergoes a chemical reaction or a chemical change.
Physical changes
They are changes affecting the form of a chemical substance, but not its chemical composition.
Physical properties
Physical properties can be observed or measured without changing the composition of matter.
Conduction
Conduction is heat being transferred by touch.
Convection
Convection is heat being transferred by liquid or gas.
Average speed
Average speed is the average of two or more speeds.
Radiation
Radiation is heat being transferred by the sun.
Force
Force is a push or a pull that acts on an object.
Newtons 1st law
When an object in motion, it wants to stay in motion. When an object is at rest, it wants to stay at rest, forever. This is called inertia.
Newtons 2nd law
When two forces on an object are balanced, the object does not move. When two forces are unbalanced, the object moves.
Newtons 3rd law
For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.
Action- reaction law.
Friction
Friction is a force that occurs when two objects rub against each other.
