Physical Science Flashcards
Radiation
Transfer of heat from the sun
Convection
Transfer of heat through electromagnetic waves
Conduction
Transfer of heat through touch
Physical properties
Properties hat an object has that we can us our five senses to describe
Physical Changes
Changes that are made to an object but aren’t chemical changes because the object doesn’t change state and you can get the original object back.
Chemical Properties
Can be observed only through a chemical reaction
Chemical changes
Changes that can’t be reversed
Average speed
Distance divided by time
Velocity
Speed and direction an object is moving
Friction
A force that occurs when two object rub against each other
Newton’s First law
When an object is in motion it wants to stay in motion. When an object is at rest it wants to stay at rest. This is called inertia
Newtons 2nd Law
When two forces on an object are balanced the object does not move. When the forces are unbalanced the object moves.
Newtons 3rd law
For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction
Force
A push or a pull
