Physical Science Flashcards
Radiation
Radiation is electromagnetic waves that transfer heat energy through empty space.
Convection
Convection is the transfer of heat through a gas or liquid.
Conduction
Conduction is the transfer of heat through solid matter.
Physical property
A physical property of an object is properties that do not change the chemical nature of matter, you can describe them using your five senses.
Physical change
Physical change is when an object goes from one physical state to another but it’s chemical makeup is the same.
Chemical change
A chemical change is when substances combine to form something new.
chemical properties
A chemical property is a property that can only be observed during a chemical reaction.
Speed
The rate at which something moves.
Friction
The resistance against motion that occurs when an object rolls against another.
Newton’s 1st law
When a object stays resting or moving with the same direction and speed until another force acts upon it.
Newton’s 2nd law
Acceleration is produces when a force acts upon a mass, pushing or pulling creates acceleration.
Newton’s 3rd law
When you push an object the object will push back in the opposite direction equally hard.
